Área de competencia: The Municipality of Jumilla is located in the Region of Murcia, Spain. It is a rural and agricultural territory in the North of the Region. With an area of 97,200 hectares, it is the second largest municipality in the Region of Murcia and has a population of 26,234 inhabitants in 2021. Relevant projects: Over the last few years, the Municipality has implemented a series of plans and joined numerous networks and city alliances in order to cooperate with other agents and cooperate in sustainable development to achieve for 2030 a more sustainable, inclusive, and participative town. Among them are: Jumilla’s Urban Agenda 2030, Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, Jumilla Sustainable Tourism Plan 2024, Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP) and Special Plan for the Protection of the Historic-Artistic Ensemble of Jumilla (PECHA). Strategic and thematic priorities: Jumilla’s Urban Agenda 2030 is a strategic document based on the Sustainable Development Goals that will mark the municipality’s roadmap to achieve sustainable development from the environmental, social and economic point of view. The first action plan proposal for the Jumilla 2030 Urban Agenda is based on these three axes and defines challenges and measures based on three pillars: - Greener Jumilla: Implementation of a green infrastructure strategy to achieve a more resilient urban fabric that adapts to the impacts of climate change, restoration and creation of green areas and improvement of the sanitation network. Integration of the districts into the urban area by enhancing their natural and cultural heritage. Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan for the transformation of the city and promote walking and cycling through the pedestrianisation and a network of cycle lanes. - More Inclusive Jumilla: Regenerate the historic centre, in particular, the Distritos and Santiago neighbourhoods. Ensure access to housing, both rental and public housing. Equip the provision of aid for inclusion, both in terms of infrastructure and staffing. Consolidate tools for participation and transparency. - More Productive Jumilla: Support the diversification of the industrial fabric, promoting the creation of businesses in areas such as sustainable tourism, new technologies, etc.. Digitalise the management of municipal services (energy control, irrigation, etc.)
