Área de competencia: Los Alcázares is a town located on the coast of the Region of Murcia (Spain) which has a total population of 16,935 inhabitants, according to official data (INE, 2021). This is a municipality linked to the sea, with a dry Mediterranean climate, with mild temperatures in winter and high temperatures in summer, and an annual average of 18º which has made this area of the Mar Menor a very attractive place. Although there are activities such as industry and agriculture that complement the economic fabric of the municipality, the driving force of Los Alcázares in recent decades has been tourism, which employs a large part of the population, especially in the service sector. Currently, Los Alcázares is working to become a smart tourist destination, participating in the Smart Tourist Destination (DTI) strategy, an initiative arising from the National and Integral Tourism Plan 2012-2015 from the Secretary of State for Tourism of the Spanish government.
