COFAC is a non-profit private cooperative, responsible for the management of Lusófona University, recognised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education in 1998, and is the largest private university in Portugal, integrating 10 HEI in Portugal, Brazil, Cape Verde, Mozambique and Guinea- Bissau. It has a student body of more than 10.000 students and 1500 teachers and it is structured around 9 (nine) Schools that constitute the main institutional unit and offer 42 undergraduate Degrees, 51 Master Degrees, 11 PhD’s programs and 66 Post- graduation courses. Besides this, the university offers a large number of vocational and continuous training courses accordingly with the life-learning development paradigm. The University has a large experience in research and project management of European and international projects. CBIOS, the Research Center for Biosciences & Health Technologies was created in 2011 as a R&D structure of COFAC / Universidade Lusófona to create and promote knowledge in the health sciences. As part of our vision, CBIOS develops Integrated Health Strategies aimed to support the progress of Lusophone societies. Being an university-based unit, CBIOS is highly committed to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. It is also privileged to operate within a broad-minded, multidisciplinary environment essential to foster innovation, promote advanced learning, and attract dynamic young researchers from different backgrounds and cultures. CBIOS currently includes 19 integrated members, 25 PhD students, 27 collaborators, and a wide collaborative network, operating in five research domains – Natural Bioactives, Development of Delivery Systems, Pharmacology and Molecular Mechanisms, Modeling Systems, and Nutrition and Health Promotion. CBIOS is an official partner of the New European Bauhaus.
