This meeting is part of the <strong>European ThermEcoWat project<\/strong>, which aims to promote sustainable and innovative management of thermal resources on a South-West European scale.<br \/>\nAlongside experts from<strong> BRGM<\/strong>, <strong>CNRS<\/strong>, <strong>NB \u00c9nergie<\/strong> and <strong>William Terry Conseil<\/strong>, the<strong>\u00a0team<\/strong> was able to discover the facilities of the Thermal Baths of Sao Pedro do Sul, which are visited by more than 10,000 spa guests each year. With naturally hot water at 68\u00b0C and a flow rate of 60 m\u00b3\/h, the Portuguese resort has set up a heat recovery platform to heat its infrastructure and neighbouring hotels \u2013 a good example of energy transition applied to hydrotherapy.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Workshop highlights <\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>The presentation of the Portuguese thermal model, combining medical care, well-being, tourism and energy performance.<\/li>\n<li>The comparative study of climate scenarios for France, Spain and Portugal.<\/li>\n<li>The analysis of pilot cases, including <strong>Chaudes-Aigues in France<\/strong>, <strong>Caldes de Montbui in Spain<\/strong> and <strong>Sao Pedro do Sul in Portugal<\/strong>, with the identification of the historical, cultural, social, hydrogeological, economic and regulatory constraints specific to each site.<\/li>\n<li>A participatory mapping of local actors to better understand their problems and the knowledge to be mobilized.<\/li>\n<li>A technical tour of the thermal and energy infrastructure of <strong>Sao Pedro do Sul<\/strong>, highlighting innovative solutions for heat recovery and energy optimization<\/li>\n<li>The launch of legal work to understand how the national legal frameworks of each of the 3 countries can promote or hinder certain innovations, such as the reuse of thermal waters or energy recovery.<\/li>\n<li>Sharing the methodology for defining action plans for the three pilot sites.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Of the 3 pilot projects, <strong>Chaudes-Aigues<\/strong>, known for having the warmest waters in Europe, plays a central role in the project as a <strong>French pilot case<\/strong>. It is currently conducting a reflection at the local level to optimize the management of its water resources, inspired by the good practices identified at the European level.<\/p>\n<p>This workshop marked a key step towards more sustainable, resilient and energy-efficient spa destinations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>An<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/taOFBFrs1Kw?si=CA0JOQ2k3EADEucF\"><strong> AFTERMOVIE video<\/strong><\/a> was made to promote the event on the project&#8217;s social networks.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">A European project at the heart of climate issues<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Funded by the Interreg SUDOE programme, ThermEcoWat brings together <a href=\"https:\/\/interreg-sudoe.eu\/en\/proyecto-interreg\/thermecowat\/\">eight partners from France, Spain and Portugal<\/a>.
