The modern facilities of the Hospital Quir\u00f3n Salud Bizkaia (MOVEX CLINICS) in Erandio (Bizkaia) were the epicentre of an intense specialised training in Robotic Neurorehabilitation on 7 and 9 April. Two training days for the professionals who will be in charge of piloting the European REVITAL Project<\/a>, an ambitious initiative that seeks to respond to the socio-economic challenges of the rural areas of southwest Europe.<\/p>\n

The training, organised by GOGOA Mobility Robots<\/strong>, brought together these healthcare professionals in a technical conference focused on the clinical use of advanced technologies such as the HANK<\/strong>, BELK<\/strong> and HELK<\/strong> exoskeletons, as well as Virtual Reality platforms, stabilometric systems and the innovative Hand of Hope (HoH)<\/strong> robotic hand.<\/p>\n

Led by experts Maite Molinuevo<\/strong> and I\u00f1igo Urkidi<\/strong>, from the MOVEX CLINICS team, the sessions combined theory and clinical practice to address from basic fundamentals to complex applications in the treatment of patients with neurological damage.<\/p>\n

Robotic Neurorehabilitation Technology with Social Impact<\/h3>\n

The REVITAL<\/strong> project (S1\/4.5\/E0037), funded by the Interreg VI-B Sudoe program and co-funded by the ERDF, focuses on regions affected by depopulation, aging, and a lack of specialized services, such as Castilla y Le\u00f3n<\/strong> (Spain), Beira Baixa<\/strong> (Portugal), and the French Basque Country<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This training represents a key step toward achieving REVITAL’s objective: bringing cutting-edge healthcare to low-density territories, improving the quality of life of their inhabitants and promoting the creation of skilled employment.<\/p>\n

A European alliance for change<\/h3>\n

The Innovative Solutions for Independent Living Cluster (SIVI) is coordinating this project, which includes the participation of the Social Services Management of Castilla y Le\u00f3n, the San Cebri\u00e1n Foundation, GOGOA Mobility Robots, the \u00c9cole Sup\u00e9rieure des Technologies Industrielles Avanc\u00e9es (ESTIA), the University of Deusto, the GARAZI Public Health Institute, the Beira Baixa Business Association (AEBB), and the Castelo Branco Polytechnic Institute (IPCB), which make up the entire consortium.<\/p>\n

The project has a clear strategic focus on strengthening social cohesion and territorial and demographic balance through social innovation and endogenous development. The challenges and needs to be addressed are clear: responding to the depopulation and aging of inland rural areas by providing a new population with social and healthcare training; preventing the elderly and dependent population from having to migrate to urban areas to access advanced clinical services; and developing sustainable production systems based on telecare and telerehabilitation technologies, addressing the social needs that are not sufficiently covered in the field of social and healthcare services.<\/p>\n
