The wastewater reuse project is about to reach the halfway point in its implementation.<\/h2>\n

On 29 April, the European project SOLLAGUA, focused on researching nature-based solutions (NBS) for the treatment and reuse of wastewater in the south of France, Portugal, and Spain, received the official visit of the Interreg SUDOE Monitoring Committee<\/strong>, which is made up of representatives of the four member states of the programme. The event took place at the University of Toulouse, where a full presentation of the initiative, its objectives, methodology and progress was given.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The event schedule was structured in three parts. After the institutional welcome and general description of the project in the Emma Chenu room of the university’s administrative complex, attendees had the opportunity to learn more about the natural filter system installed on the campus <\/strong>in the framework of a technical visit led by Magali Gerino, scientific coordinator of the project and professor of Ecology at the French university. Phyto-purification, also known as artificial wetlands, is a sustainable method<\/a> of purifying wastewater using plants. As water flows through the system, plants and bacteria filter out pollutants and nutrients, improving water quality.<\/p>\n

Finally, Rahim Kacimi<\/a>, researcher at the Institut de Recherche en Informatique de Toulouse (IRIT), demonstrated the digital twin developed by SOLLAGUA<\/strong>, which makes it possible to simulate, analyse and optimise the operation of the purification system in real time or predictively using advanced IoT technologies.<\/p>\n

The project flows<\/h3>\n

The meeting left a very positive impression on the more than thirty participants. The SOLLAGUA consortium was also represented by Alida Lefter (University of Toulouse) and Ana Galv\u00e3o (Tecnico Lisboa), in person; and Margarida Pires Costa (\u00c1guas do Tejo Atl\u00e2ntico), Rita Lourinho (\u00c1guas do Tejo Atl\u00e2ntico), Maria Tosina (Promedio), Pedro Mart\u00edn (Promedio) and Manuel Silva (CTA), online. The Joint Secretariat of the programme was represented by Isabelle Roger (responsible for financial management and control); Alexandra Lopes, Alexandre Le Gall, Gloria L\u00e1zaro, and Christophe Cazal (project managers); Antonio Teles (communication coordinator); and Clarisse Gallard (management assistant). The project is nearing the halfway point in its execution.<\/p>\n
