On Friday 4 April, the third face-to-face meeting of the I-ReWater project consortium took place in the Portuguese towns of Vila Real and Mirandela. The two-day meeting was very positively received and served to review and revise in person the work carried out by the 16 partners since the visit to Montpellier (France) in October 2024. It also marked another milestone in the implementation of new actions planned in the schedule.<\/p>\n

In addition, the two workshops attracted the interest of a large group of agents and entities from the water sector value chain in Portugal. The workshop on trunk and soil sensors for fertigation control on the afternoon of Wednesday 2 brought together around 70 people. The group included agronomy students and other researchers from INIAV and UTAD. The main session was given by Francesc Ferrer, from Lab-Ferrer, S.L.; Elena Nieto, from the Extremadura Centre for Scientific and Technological Research (CICYTEX); and V\u00edctor Blanco, from IRTA (Institute for Agrifood Research and Technology).<\/p>\n

The following day, Thursday 3rd, the participatory workshop organised at the EsACT of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragan\u00e7a (Mirandela) featured an enriching debate and exchange of ideas on the use of reclaimed water in agriculture. The regulations, implications, challenges, opportunities and also possible rejections were mentioned. The audience included representatives from sectoral entities such as APPITAD – Mirandela; Associa\u00e7\u00e3o de Benefici\u00e1rios de Macedo de Cavaleiros; ADAB – Associa\u00e7\u00e3o de Agricultores de Bragan\u00e7a; Cooperativa de Alf\u00e2ndega da F\u00e9; CAP – Confedera\u00e7\u00e3o dos Agricultores de Portugal and CCDR NORTE, I.P. (Comiss\u00e3o de Coordena\u00e7\u00e3o e Desenvolvimento Regional do Norte).<\/p>\n

The meeting was organised by the local team from the University of Tr\u00e1s-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), with the support of the hosts Anabela Afonso Fernandes Silva, professor and researcher at the Centre for Agro-Environmental and Biological Research and Technology, and \u00c1guas do Norte, S.A., Miguel Campos and Paula Vale Fernandes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
