The event, held on <strong data-start=\"374\" data-end=\"385\">June 18<\/strong>, brought together <strong data-start=\"404\" data-end=\"430\">around 20 participants<\/strong>, including technicians, researchers, institutional representatives and students, with the aim of <strong data-start=\"528\" data-end=\"590\">reflecting on the environmental risks associated with PFAS<\/strong>, particularly in the context of forest fires.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"638\" data-end=\"1029\">The workshop focused on presenting the <strong data-start=\"677\" data-end=\"699\">ALERT-PFAS project<\/strong>, covering its overall goals, preliminary results, and the lines of action developed within the <strong data-start=\"795\" data-end=\"811\">SUDOE region<\/strong> (Spain, France and Portugal). Participants also took part in a <strong data-start=\"875\" data-end=\"895\">dialogue session<\/strong>, where they were able to ask questions and share experiences related to environmental management, prevention and pollutant treatment.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"908\" data-end=\"1314\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-48487 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/interreg-sudoe.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Evento-ALERT-PFAS-2-scaled-e1750336928980-1024x662.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"517\" srcset=\"https:\/\/interreg-sudoe.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Evento-ALERT-PFAS-2-scaled-e1750336928980-1024x662.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/interreg-sudoe.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Evento-ALERT-PFAS-2-scaled-e1750336928980-300x194.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/interreg-sudoe.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Evento-ALERT-PFAS-2-scaled-e1750336928980-768x497.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/interreg-sudoe.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Evento-ALERT-PFAS-2-scaled-e1750336928980-1536x994.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/interreg-sudoe.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Evento-ALERT-PFAS-2-scaled-e1750336928980.jpeg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1031\" data-end=\"1161\">The opening session was led by <strong data-start=\"1062\" data-end=\"1081\">Jorge Izquierdo<\/strong>, representing FUBU, followed by a series of technical presentations, including:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1163\" data-end=\"1829\">\n<li data-start=\"1163\" data-end=\"1261\">\n<p data-start=\"1165\" data-end=\"1261\"><strong data-start=\"1165\" data-end=\"1179\">Juan Picos<\/strong> (University of Vigo), on wildfire management and the use of firefighting foams.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1262\" data-end=\"1419\">\n<p data-start=\"1264\" data-end=\"1419\"><strong data-start=\"1264\" data-end=\"1279\">Ana Pereiro<\/strong> (NOVA University Lisbon), who provided a global overview of the project and presented the mapping of PFAS presence across the SUDOE area.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1420\" data-end=\"1521\">\n<p data-start=\"1422\" data-end=\"1521\"><strong data-start=\"1422\" data-end=\"1437\">Eduard Puga<\/strong> (Cetaqua), who introduced the digital tool under development for risk assessment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1522\" data-end=\"1682\">\n<p data-start=\"1524\" data-end=\"1682\"><strong data-start=\"1524\" data-end=\"1545\">Santiago Aparicio<\/strong> (University of Burgos), who presented the <strong data-start=\"1588\" data-end=\"1610\">NADES4PFAS project<\/strong>, focused on the use of natural deep eutectic solvents to remove PFAS.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1683\" data-end=\"1829\">\n<p data-start=\"1685\" data-end=\"1829\">Finally, <strong data-start=\"1694\" data-end=\"1717\">Luis Marcos Naveira<\/strong> led a <strong data-start=\"1724\" data-end=\"1750\">participatory workshop<\/strong> as part of the <strong data-start=\"1766\" data-end=\"1789\">UBU Verde programme<\/strong>, focused on <strong data-start=\"1802\" data-end=\"1828\">natural area pollution<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1831\" data-end=\"1915\">The event concluded with a <strong data-start=\"1858\" data-end=\"1877\">closing session<\/strong> and an <strong data-start=\"1885\" data-end=\"1914\">informal networking lunch<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Burgos hosted a new technical workshop as part of the European project ALERT-PFAS, organized by the General Foundation of the University of Burgos (FUBU).
