The program will cover a wide range of cutting-edge topics, including <strong data-start=\"10552\" data-end=\"10894\">Network Medicine, Network Pharmacology, Precision Diagnostics, Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models, the European Health Data Space, healthcare implementation, drug reformulation, innovative trials, intellectual property, health technology assessment, patient-centered care, and the global impact framed by the UN 2030 Agenda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"10899\" data-end=\"11229\">Within this international context, the <strong data-start=\"10938\" data-end=\"10952\">RePo-SUDOE<\/strong> project will showcase its progress and strategic goals through <strong data-start=\"11016\" data-end=\"11050\">three scientific contributions<\/strong> highlighting the potential of drug repurposing to address unmet medical needs and to position the SUDOE region (Spain, Portugal, and France) as a European leader in this field.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"11231\" data-end=\"11272\">RePo-SUDOE contributions at RExPO25<\/h3>\n<ul data-start=\"11274\" data-end=\"13913\">\n<li data-start=\"11274\" data-end=\"12185\">\n<p data-start=\"11276\" data-end=\"12185\"><strong data-start=\"11276\" data-end=\"11365\">Ana \u00c1lvarez \u2013 \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/drugrepocentral.scienceopen.com\/hosted-document?doi=10.58647\/REXPO.25000086.v1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Drug repurposing for cancer and beyond through the RePo-SUDOE project<\/a>\u201d<\/strong><br data-start=\"11365\" data-end=\"11368\" \/>Ana \u00c1lvarez\u2019s contribution addresses one of the most pressing health challenges: cancer, the second leading cause of death and illness in Europe. Drug repurposing emerges as a fast, cost-effective, and safe strategy to deliver new life-saving treatments.<br data-start=\"11624\" data-end=\"11627\" \/>In this context, RePo-SUDOE has identified the <strong data-start=\"11676\" data-end=\"11700\">YAP\/TAZ-TEAD complex<\/strong>, regulated by the Hippo pathway, as a priority target in oncology due to its central role in tumor progression. Following an extensive literature review and the selection of compounds reported to disrupt these interactions, the team is developing <strong data-start=\"11948\" data-end=\"11986\">standardized biophysical protocols<\/strong> (SPR and BLI) to ensure reproducible and precise results. These advances not only strengthen the project\u2019s scientific foundations but also open new therapeutic opportunities for cancer and beyond.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"12187\" data-end=\"13117\">\n<p data-start=\"12189\" data-end=\"13117\"><strong data-start=\"12189\" data-end=\"12285\">Hugo Filipe \u2013 \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/drugrepocentral.scienceopen.com\/hosted-document?doi=10.58647\/REXPO.25000100.v1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RePo-SUDOE \u2013 A translational network for drug repurposing in the SUDOE space<\/a>\u201d<\/strong><br data-start=\"12285\" data-end=\"12288\" \/>Hugo Filipe\u2019s presentation focuses on building a <strong data-start=\"12339\" data-end=\"12385\">translational network for drug repurposing<\/strong> in the SUDOE region, addressing the still modest contribution of Spain, Portugal, and France to global research in comparison with leading countries such as China, the USA, and the UK.<br data-start=\"12570\" data-end=\"12573\" \/>His talk highlights three key objectives: <strong data-start=\"12617\" data-end=\"12624\">(i)<\/strong> raising awareness and understanding of repurposing technologies, <strong data-start=\"12690\" data-end=\"12698\">(ii)<\/strong> fostering multidisciplinary collaboration and joint innovation, and <strong data-start=\"12767\" data-end=\"12776\">(iii)<\/strong> introducing advanced technological tools such as an <strong data-start=\"12829\" data-end=\"12887\">interactive 3D room with virtual and augmented reality<\/strong> to explore drug\u2013target interactions and promote immersive learning among students and young researchers. In doing so, the project strengthens the region\u2019s research competitiveness and establishes SUDOE as a key European player.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"13119\" data-end=\"13913\">\n<p data-start=\"13121\" data-end=\"13913\"><strong data-start=\"13121\" data-end=\"13257\">Jo\u00e3o Joaquim \u2013 \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/drugrepocentral.scienceopen.com\/hosted-document?doi=10.58647\/REXPO.25000111.v1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RePo-SUDOE: Promoting drug repurposing in the SUDOE region through Public Health engagement and scientific literacy<\/a>\u201d<\/strong><br data-start=\"13257\" data-end=\"13260\" \/>Jo\u00e3o Joaquim\u2019s contribution emphasizes the role of <strong data-start=\"13313\" data-end=\"13354\">public health and scientific literacy<\/strong> as essential drivers to ensure that drug repurposing innovations reach society as a whole.<br data-start=\"13445\" data-end=\"13448\" \/>He will highlight the work led by the <strong data-start=\"13488\" data-end=\"13534\">Portuguese Society of Public Health (SPSP)<\/strong> in dissemination and knowledge transfer through workshops, summer schools, educational resources, and policy briefs. These initiatives bring the project\u2019s achievements closer to healthcare professionals, policymakers, students, and the public, fostering the integration of drug repurposing approaches into health systems and promoting equity in access to innovative therapies.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"13915\" data-end=\"13977\">Commitment to innovation and transnational collaboration<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"13979\" data-end=\"14356\">RePo-SUDOE\u2019s participation in RExPO25 reflects its strong commitment to biomedical innovation, open knowledge, and cross-border collaboration.
