The first, of a <\/span><b>strategic nature<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, brought together municipal councillors and representatives; the second, more <\/span><b>technical<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, involved environmental and green space management experts from the municipalities of CIM do Ave and the Landscape Lab.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the umbrella of the <\/span><b>Rural Transition Labs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> project, CIM do Ave facilitated these meetings with the aim of collectively developing local resilience strategies \u2013 particularly the <\/span><b>Charter for the Sustainable Management of Public Green Spaces<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The agenda of both sessions included the presentation of the project\u2019s <\/span><b>Sensitive Diagnosis<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and discussions around key local challenges such as water scarcity, biodiversity loss, and the sustainable management of urban green areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The sessions identified common <\/span><b>strengths<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> across the territory (e.g., strong technical expertise, ongoing innovative projects, and a willingness to cooperate), as well as <\/span><b>weaknesses<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (lack of a shared strategic vision, fragmented efforts, and limited resources). The need to clarify roles and strengthen interinstitutional coordination \u2013 including the integration of civil parishes and the aggregating role of CIM do Ave \u2013 was also emphasised.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>recommendations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from both sessions converged around five strategic pillars:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strengthening leadership and strategic-political alignment;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Developing shared operational tools;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Enhancing technical-political collaboration and capacity-building;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stimulating participation and effective communication;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aligning funding sources with local priorities.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These pillars will guide the participatory development of the Charter for the Sustainable Management of Public Green Spaces.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the session with elected officials focused on institutional validation and initial strategic direction, the technical meeting delved into practical contributions and incorporated local experiences, such as the <\/span><b>pilot project in P\u00f3voa de Lanhoso<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, providing concrete examples.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A common outcome of both sessions was the recognition that sustainable management of public green spaces is vital to tackling climate risks (e.g. drought, biodiversity loss) and improving urban quality of life (better air quality, heat island reduction, and increased leisure space).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The next steps will include collecting good practice examples from the municipalities within NUT III Ave, to be integrated into the final version of the Charter.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Intermunicipal Community of Ave (CIM do Ave) held two Territorial Dialogue Sessions on 17 June and 4 July 2025.
