The <strong data-start=\"385\" data-end=\"518\"><a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.europeenauvergnerhonealpes.fr\/actualite\/lancement-du-projet-thermecowat?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"387\" data-end=\"516\">ThermEcoWat project<\/a><\/strong> organized a workshop there, bringing together <strong data-start=\"565\" data-end=\"580\">researchers<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"582\" data-end=\"606\">thermal spa managers<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"612\" data-end=\"633\">local authorities<\/strong> from France, Spain, and Portugal. The <strong>ThermEcoWat<\/strong> project organised there a transnational workshop bringing together researchers, managers of thermal facilities and local authorities from France, Spain and Portugal.<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"676\" data-end=\"741\"><strong><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">Workshop Objective: Sharing and Testing Sustainable Solutions<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"743\" data-end=\"767\">The workshop aimed to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"768\" data-end=\"1034\">\n<p data-start=\"770\" data-end=\"1034\">present the preliminary results of the <strong data-start=\"813\" data-end=\"946\"><a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.europeenauvergnerhonealpes.fr\/actualite\/lancement-du-projet-thermecowat?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"815\" data-end=\"944\">ThermEcoWat project<\/a><\/strong>, focused on the preservation of <strong data-start=\"979\" data-end=\"997\">thermal waters<\/strong> in the face of <strong data-start=\"1013\" data-end=\"1031\">climate change<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1035\" data-end=\"1121\">\n<p data-start=\"1037\" data-end=\"1121\">promote the exchange of best practices among <strong data-start=\"1086\" data-end=\"1118\">European thermal territories<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1122\" data-end=\"1237\">\n<p data-start=\"1124\" data-end=\"1237\">transform the diagnostic phase into operational adaptation pathways for each pilot site of the project.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The work focused on the sites of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chaudes Aigues (France) \u2013 geothermal heritage and local energy transition;<\/li>\n<li>Caldes de Montbui (Spain) \u2013 water resource management and urban planning;<\/li>\n<li>S\u00e3o Pedro do Sul (Portugal) \u2013 post-disaster recovery and resilience of thermal ecosystems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During the working sessions, the national teams classified and prioritised the measures identified in the project\u2019s knowledge graph, examined their technical, legal and economic feasibility, and considered their integration into local climate-change adaptation strategies.<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"1244\" data-end=\"1314\"><strong><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\">A Comprehensive Program Combining Conferences and Field Activities<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"1316\" data-end=\"1340\">The workshop included:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1341\" data-end=\"2070\">\n<li data-start=\"1341\" data-end=\"1448\">\n<p data-start=\"1343\" data-end=\"1448\">Conferences and roundtables on <strong data-start=\"1378\" data-end=\"1407\">thermal source resilience<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1412\" data-end=\"1445\">climate adaptation strategies<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1449\" data-end=\"1898\">\n<p data-start=\"1451\" data-end=\"1898\"><strong data-start=\"1451\" data-end=\"1471\">Technical visits<\/strong> to the main <strong data-start=\"1484\" data-end=\"1511\">thermal spas of Ourense<\/strong>, such as <strong data-start=\"1521\" data-end=\"1539\">A Chavasqueira<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1544\" data-end=\"1557\">As Burgas<\/strong>, as well as the <strong data-start=\"1574\" data-end=\"1827\"><a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lavozdegalicia.es\/noticia\/ourense\/ourense\/2025\/10\/18\/ourense-acogera-encuentro-transnacional-reunira-especialistas-gestion-aguas-termales-energias-renovables\/00031760809153633149303.htm?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"1576\" data-end=\"1825\">University of Vigo campus<\/a><\/strong>, to observe <strong data-start=\"1840\" data-end=\"1867\">geothermal applications<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1872\" data-end=\"1895\">heat reuse projects<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1899\" data-end=\"2070\">\n<p data-start=\"1901\" data-end=\"2070\"><strong data-start=\"1901\" data-end=\"1933\">Transnational working groups<\/strong>, where <strong data-start=\"1941\" data-end=\"1956\">researchers<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1961\" data-end=\"1983\">local stakeholders<\/strong> exchanged practices and identified <strong data-start=\"2019\" data-end=\"2045\">transferable solutions<\/strong> for other territories.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The discussions highlighted both strong convergences among European thermal cities (need for integrated water governance, shared energy-recovery systems, strengthened regulatory frameworks) and challenges specific to each local context.<\/p>\n<h4 data-start=\"2077\" data-end=\"2112\"><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\"><strong>A Mobilized European Consortium<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"2114\" data-end=\"2143\">The event brought together:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2144\" data-end=\"2870\">\n<li data-start=\"2144\" data-end=\"2388\">\n<p data-start=\"2146\" data-end=\"2388\"><strong data-start=\"2146\" data-end=\"2287\"><a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.brgm.fr\/fr\/projet-cours\/thermecowat-renforcer-resilience-ecosystemes-lies-eau-thermale?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"2148\" data-end=\"2285\">BRGM experts<\/a><\/strong> (France) and <strong data-start=\"2301\" data-end=\"2330\">public geological centers<\/strong> from Spain and Portugal (<strong data-start=\"2356\" data-end=\"2384\">ICGC, CN IGME CSIC, LNEG<\/strong>);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2389\" data-end=\"2634\">\n<p data-start=\"2391\" data-end=\"2634\"><strong data-start=\"2391\" data-end=\"2418\">Local thermal operators<\/strong> and authorities from Portugal (<strong data-start=\"2450\" data-end=\"2503\">Termalistur &#8211; Termas de S\u00e3o Pedro do Sul E.M. S.A<\/strong>) and Spain (<strong data-start=\"2516\" data-end=\"2556\">Ajuntament de Caldes de Montbui &#8211; ES<\/strong>), emphasizing <strong data-start=\"2571\" data-end=\"2588\">collaboration<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"2593\" data-end=\"2631\">co-design of sustainable solutions<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2635\" data-end=\"2870\">\n<p data-start=\"2637\" data-end=\"2870\">the <strong data-start=\"2641\" data-end=\"2824\"><a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.depourense.gal\/es\/nova\/la-diputacion-trae-ourense-un-encuentro-sobre-la-gestion-de-aguas-termales-y-energias?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"2643\" data-end=\"2822\">Diputaci\u00f3n Provincial de Ourense<\/a><\/strong>, which hosted and coordinated the workshop.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 data-start=\"2877\" data-end=\"2893\"><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\"><strong>Why Ourense?<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"2895\" data-end=\"2960\">The province is an <strong data-start=\"2914\" data-end=\"2938\">emblematic territory<\/strong> for <strong data-start=\"2943\" data-end=\"2957\">thermalism<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2961\" data-end=\"3204\">\n<li data-start=\"2961\" data-end=\"3004\">\n<p data-start=\"2963\" data-end=\"3004\">rich in <strong data-start=\"2971\" data-end=\"3001\">historical thermal springs <\/strong>in the heart of <strong data-start=\"2971\" data-end=\"3001\">Galicia<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3005\" data-end=\"3096\">\n<p data-start=\"3007\" data-end=\"3096\">a <strong data-start=\"3009\" data-end=\"3020\">pioneer<\/strong> in the <strong data-start=\"3028\" data-end=\"3071\">sustainable and innovative exploitation<\/strong> of <strong data-start=\"3075\" data-end=\"3093\">thermal waters<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3097\" data-end=\"3204\">\n<p data-start=\"3099\" data-end=\"3204\">ideal for observing and testing <strong data-start=\"3131\" data-end=\"3164\">climate adaptation strategies<\/strong> developed by <strong data-start=\"3178\" data-end=\"3193\">ThermEcoWat<\/strong> on-site.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 data-start=\"3211\" data-end=\"3222\"><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\"><strong>Outlook<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p data-start=\"3224\" data-end=\"3412\">This workshop represents a <strong data-start=\"3251\" data-end=\"3268\">key milestone<\/strong> in the <strong data-start=\"3276\" data-end=\"3409\"><a class=\"decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.europeenauvergnerhonealpes.fr\/actualite\/lancement-du-projet-thermecowat?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_new\" rel=\"noopener\" data-start=\"3278\" data-end=\"3407\">ThermEcoWat project<\/a><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"3413\" data-end=\"3810\">\n<li data-start=\"3413\" data-end=\"3540\">\n<p data-start=\"3415\" data-end=\"3540\">lessons learned in <strong data-start=\"3434\" data-end=\"3445\">Ourense<\/strong> will be integrated into the <strong data-start=\"3474\" data-end=\"3506\">action plans for pilot sites<\/strong> in France, Spain, and Portugal;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3541\" data-end=\"3714\">\n<p data-start=\"3543\" data-end=\"3714\">they will enable the implementation of <strong data-start=\"3582\" data-end=\"3609\">tools and methodologies<\/strong> to help <strong data-start=\"3618\" data-end=\"3641\">thermal territories<\/strong> sustainably manage their <strong data-start=\"3667\" data-end=\"3686\">water resources<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"3691\" data-end=\"3711\">energy potential<\/strong>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3715\" data-end=\"3810\">\n<p data-start=\"3717\" data-end=\"3810\">it also prepares the <strong data-start=\"3738\" data-end=\"3773\">dissemination of best practices<\/strong> to other <strong data-start=\"3783\" data-end=\"3807\">European territories<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This Transnational Workshop also gave the ThermEcoWat partners the opportunity to meet the Lead Partner of the European <a href=\"https:\/\/interreg-sudoe.eu\/en\/proyecto-interreg\/aquapred\/\">AQUAPRED<\/a> project and to visit one of their pilot sites, also co-financed by the SUDOE Programme.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From October 20 to 22, 2025, the Laias thermal spa in the province of Ourense (Galicia, Spain), became the European hub for sustainable thermalism.
