In this edition, CITIC received an <strong data-start=\"7869\" data-end=\"7949\">Honourable Mention in the Technology, Computer Science and Robotics category<\/strong>, recognising its efforts to bring science closer to society.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8012\" data-end=\"8353\"><strong data-start=\"8012\" data-end=\"8026\">RePo-SUDOE<\/strong> addresses one of the major challenges in pharmaceutical development: the <strong data-start=\"8100\" data-end=\"8154\">high costs, long timelines, and high failure rates<\/strong> in creating new drugs. Its approach focuses on <strong data-start=\"8202\" data-end=\"8222\">drug repurposing<\/strong> \u2014 a strategy that <strong data-start=\"8241\" data-end=\"8299\">reuses existing medicines for new therapeutic purposes<\/strong>, directly benefiting industry, society, and patients.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8355\" data-end=\"8587\">The project aims to <strong data-start=\"8375\" data-end=\"8426\">position the SUDOE area as a European benchmark<\/strong> in this field by developing and disseminating <strong data-start=\"8473\" data-end=\"8498\">advanced technologies<\/strong> that boost competitiveness and attract skilled talent. Its main lines of action include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"8590\" data-end=\"8708\">the <strong data-start=\"8594\" data-end=\"8671\">dissemination of scientific knowledge and <em data-start=\"8638\" data-end=\"8656\">drug repurposing<\/em> technologies<\/strong> among public and private entities;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"8711\" data-end=\"8850\"><strong data-start=\"8711\" data-end=\"8764\">transnational and multidisciplinary collaboration<\/strong> to identify innovative therapeutic opportunities, particularly in cancer treatment;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"8853\" data-end=\"9018\">and the <strong data-start=\"8861\" data-end=\"8936\">creation of a 3D visualisation room using virtual and augmented reality<\/strong>, designed as an educational and outreach experience for students and researchers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"9020\" data-end=\"9328\">At <em data-start=\"9023\" data-end=\"9047\">Ciencia en Acci\u00f3n 2025<\/em>, the <strong data-start=\"9053\" data-end=\"9083\">RePo-SUDOE team from CITIC<\/strong> \u2014<strong data-start=\"9085\" data-end=\"9167\">Carlos Fern\u00e1ndez Lozano, Diego Fern\u00e1ndez Edreira, and Luc\u00eda Mart\u00ednez Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>\u2014 presented a <strong data-start=\"9181\" data-end=\"9199\">Bioinformatics<\/strong> outreach panel explaining how data analysis technologies can accelerate drug reuse and support the development of new therapies.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"9330\" data-end=\"9544\">This <strong data-start=\"9335\" data-end=\"9350\">recognition<\/strong> reinforces <strong data-start=\"9362\" data-end=\"9384\">CITIC\u2019s commitment<\/strong> to <strong data-start=\"9388\" data-end=\"9421\">scientific knowledge transfer<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"9426\" data-end=\"9462\">accessible technological culture<\/strong>, highlighting its active role in <strong data-start=\"9496\" data-end=\"9543\">promoting science for health and well-being<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The RePo-SUDOE project, involving the CITIC of the University of A Coru\u00f1a and framed within the citasTIC outreach initiative, took part in the 26th edition of the international Ciencia en Acci\u00f3n contest, held from 7 to 9 November in Onda (Castell\u00f3n).
