The Second Conference of the European project <\/span>RePo-SUDOE<\/b>, held on <\/span>15\u201316 December 2025<\/b> in A Coru\u00f1a, concluded with highly positive feedback after bringing together experts from the biomedical, pharmaceutical and technology sectors to discuss and showcase the latest progress in <\/span>drug repurposing<\/b> and drug resistance.<\/span><\/p>\n

On <\/span>15 December<\/b>, the Finisterre Hotel hosted a full day of presentations in which researchers and institutional representatives shared key project results and explored current challenges in the development of innovative therapies. <\/span>The opening session featured the rector of the University of A Coru\u00f1a, <\/span>Ricardo Cao Abad<\/b>, and the president of the Galician Health Cluster, <\/span>Roc\u00edo Mosquera \u00c1lvarez<\/b>, who highlighted the strategic importance of the SUDOE region in biomedical research.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout the day, speakers addressed topics such as <\/span>drug resistance<\/b>, the importance of <\/span>correct dosing<\/b>, emerging <\/span>pharmacogenomic and diagnostic biomarker tools<\/b>, and the growing role of <\/span>artificial intelligence in drug repurposing<\/b>. <\/span>Renowned experts including <\/span>Philippe Pourquier<\/b>, <\/span>Christian Franken<\/b>, <\/span>Robert Loewe<\/b>, <\/span>Guillermo L\u00f3pez Campos<\/b>, <\/span>Luc\u00eda Prieto Santamar\u00eda and Beatriz Caram\u00e9s<\/b>\u00a0contributed multidisciplinary insights into how emerging technologies are transforming translational research.<\/span><\/p>\n

The program also featured a roundtable with representatives from <\/span>AEMPS<\/b> and <\/span>INFARMED<\/b>, who examined regulatory challenges and opportunities in the SUDOE area. The day concluded with practical demonstrations and networking to foster new collaborations.<\/span><\/p>\n

On <\/span>16 December<\/b>, the event moved to <\/span>CITIC<\/b>, where a technical session showcased specific advances achieved within the RePo-SUDOE project. Participants discovered cutting-edge work including biophysical characterization of protein\u2013protein interactions, molecular docking studies, immersive VR tools for molecular visualization, virtual research environments for drug repurposing, and new strategies for 3D biomedical models with applications in oncology.<\/span><\/p>\n

With strong attendance and engagement, the RePo-SUDOE conference has established itself as a key meeting point for strengthening cooperation among research centers, universities and industry, supporting knowledge transfer and the development of more effective therapeutic solutions.<\/span><\/p>\n
