This diverse skill set enables UAlg to contribute advanced, practical, and industry-oriented solutions for the transition towards Agriculture 5.0, with a strong focus on sustainability and circularity.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The UAlg Team in Agrobotics DITWINS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>UAlg\u2019s contribution to the project is driven by the following team members:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jorge Semi\u00e3o \u2013 Electronics and Sensors<\/li>\n<li>Jo\u00e3o Rodrigues \u2013 Visual Computing and Artificial Intelligence<\/li>\n<li>Pedro Cardoso \u2013 Machine Learning<\/li>\n<li>J\u00e2nio Monteiro \u2013 Sensor Networks<\/li>\n<li>Cristiano Cabrita \u2013 Control Systems and Fuzzy Logic<\/li>\n<li>Roberto Lam \u2013 Web Technologies and Computing<\/li>\n<li>Nelson Sousa \u2013 Mechanics<\/li>\n<li>Jaime Martins \u2013 Digital Twins and Artificial Intelligence<\/li>\n<li>Hugo Barros \u2013 Management<\/li>\n<li>Sofia Vairinho \u2013 Intellectual Property<\/li>\n<li>Pedro Guerreiro \u2013 Data Science<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Together, the team combines experience in IoT systems, sensor networks, data analytics, robotics, automation, and digital-twin development, building on UAlg\u2019s previous work in smart irrigation, artificial intelligence, and sustainable agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>From Research to Sector Engagement: Participation in the Citrus Campaign Review<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As part of its commitment to connecting research with real-world challenges, the University of Algarve participated in the Citrus Campaign Review 2024\/2025, held on 22 October 2025 at the Hotel Grande Real Santa Eul\u00e1lia, in Albufeira, Algarve, Portugal.<\/p>\n<p>The event was organized by AlgarOrange \u2013 Association of Citrus Operators of the Algarve and the Centro Operativo e Tecnol\u00f3gico Hortofrut\u00edcola Nacional \u2013 Centro de Compet\u00eancias (COTHN-CC), and brought together producers, technicians, researchers, and institutional stakeholders from across the citrus value chain.<\/p>\n<p>During the event, UAlg presented a poster on the Agrobotics DITWINS project, showcasing how digital twins, advanced sensing, and data-driven decision support can contribute to addressing key challenges discussed during the meeting, including water management, technological innovation, circular economy approaches, and the internationalization of \u201cCitrinos do Algarve\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Through this participation, the University of Algarve reinforced its role as an active partner of the citrus sector, promoting knowledge transfer, dialogue, and collaboration between academia and industry.
