The Badajoz Chamber of Commerce successfully concluded the\u00a0Open Innovation Forum \u2013 Smart Green Water<\/em>, an event that gathered 90 participants at the Wine and Olive Palace in Almendralejo to promote the digitalisation of agricultural irrigation in Extremadura.<\/p>\n

\nA forum focused on water and digitalisation<\/strong>
\nThe meeting was designed as a collaborative space for innovation, sustainability, and efficient water management in the regional agricultural sector. Held within the framework of the\u00a0SMART GREEN WATER<\/em>\u00a0project, co\u2011funded by the Interreg SUDOE programme of the European Union, the forum focused on how irrigation digitalisation can address the challenges of climate change and the current hydrological situation.<\/p>\n

\nInstitutional opening and European commitment<\/strong>
\nThe institutional welcome was delivered by Myriam L\u00e1zaro, member of the Executive Committee of the Badajoz Chamber of Commerce. In her speech, L\u00e1zaro underlined the strategic role of water for the competitiveness of the agri\u2011sector and highlighted the Chamber\u2019s strong commitment to European projects, with 15 projects implemented and 32 proposals submitted in 2025 as a driver of territorial transformation.<\/p>\n

\nHigh participation and attendee profile<\/strong>
\nThe forum brought together 90 participants, consolidating the event as a benchmark meeting for smart irrigation in Extremadura. Among the attendees were farmers, irrigation communities, agri\u2011businesses, technology providers, research centres, and innovation ecosystem actors from various parts of the region.<\/p>\n

\nIrrigation challenges and innovative solutions<\/strong>
\nThroughout the day, participants shared experiences and discussed the main challenges facing modern agriculture, particularly in relation to water efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness. Innovative solutions were also presented, including the application of digital twins for irrigation management, enabling optimised water use and improved decision\u2011making on farms.<\/p>\n

\nA space for dialogue and cooperation<\/strong>
\nAmong the technical presentations, contributions from the University of C\u00f3rdoba stood out, providing expert knowledge on precision irrigation technologies and their role in sustainable water management. The programme also featured a panel of experts, networking sessions, and B2B meetings that fostered knowledge exchange and synergies among the various participants. Through initiatives like this, the Badajoz Chamber of Commerce reinforces its role as a driving force behind innovation and digital transformation in the agricultural sector, promoting a more efficient and sustainable agriculture in Extremadura.<\/p>\n
