The University of Deusto, one of the entities that forms part of the REVITAL project consortium, presented a poster of this initiative at the 25th International Conference on Integrated Care (ICIC25), held in Lisbon, Portugal, from May 14 to 16, 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

Under the theme “Synergy between Health and Care: Leveraging Integrated Care for a Sustainable Future,” ICIC25 brought together leaders, researchers, clinicians, managers, community representatives, patients, and caregivers from around the world involved in the design and delivery of integrated health and care services.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thus, Deusto took advantage of this Conference to continue disseminating the REVITAL project, which seeks to revitalize low-density rural areas in Castilla y Le\u00f3n (Spain), Beira Baixa (Portugal), and Pays Basque (France) through the introduction of telecare and tele-clinical rehabilitation services, leveraging advanced technologies.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to improving the quality of life of people living in these areas, REVITAL also aims to generate skilled employment, attract new residents, and boost the rural economy. The goal is to prevent the elderly from having to move to urban areas to receive advanced medical care and, at the same time, promote sustainable development based on social innovation in these rural areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Ibon Oleagordia Ruiz, project manager at Deusto and REVITAL manager for the University, was responsible for presenting this poster, which was shown in its digital version. The objective of this poster is to disseminate this project in a scientific and informative manner, highlighting the background, implications, objectives, consortium members, and the results being achieved thanks to this project, which is being developed in rural areas of Spain, France, and Portugal.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Spain, the San Cebri\u00e1n Foundation began the pilot in January 2025, with 5-25 volunteers from the Cerrato and Tierra de Campos areas. Twenty applications have already been received from patients with ALS, MS, stroke, Parkinson’s, and other diseases. The technologies used are Vitalstim Plus, Fesia Walk, Pablo, Tyro, Mobi, and Rehametrics.<\/span><\/p>\n

In France, the pilot began at the Garazi EPS and ESTIA, with 42 people benefiting from technology-based telerehabilitation.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Portugal, IPCB is running a pilot project focused on improving rural healthcare through telecare and telerehabilitation.<\/span><\/p>\n
