The event brought together research groups and students interested in learning more about the scientific and technological initiatives being developed at the university.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6966\" data-end=\"7224\">During the event, the team from the <a href=\"https:\/\/mall-lab.github.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong data-start=\"7002\" data-end=\"7045\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Laboratorio de Aprendizaje Autom\u00e1tico en Ciencias Vivas (MALL)<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/a> presented several research lines focused on the application of artificial intelligence and data analysis to life sciences, particularly in the field of discovering new therapies.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"1ekyk9p\" data-start=\"7226\" data-end=\"7293\">Artificial intelligence to accelerate the discovery of therapies<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"7295\" data-end=\"7498\">One of the projects highlighted was <strong data-start=\"7331\" data-end=\"7374\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">RePo-SUDOE<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, a European initiative focused on <strong data-start=\"7409\" data-end=\"7429\">drug repurposing<\/strong>, which aims to identify new therapeutic uses for existing medicines.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"7500\" data-end=\"7715\">This approach helps optimise biomedical research processes by reducing the cost and time required to develop treatments, taking advantage of compounds that have already passed part of the clinical evaluation stages.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"7717\" data-end=\"8000\">During the fair, researchers showcased some of the technological developments produced within the project and demonstrated <a href=\"https:\/\/repo-vre.citic.udc.es\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong data-start=\"7840\" data-end=\"7883\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">RePo-VRE<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/a>, a digital platform designed to support biomedical data analysis and foster collaborative research among scientists.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"vokkm4\" data-start=\"8002\" data-end=\"8038\">Research in personalised medicine<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"8040\" data-end=\"8216\">The team also presented the project <strong data-start=\"8076\" data-end=\"8119\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">PRECISION (PID2024-162441OA-I00)<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, which focuses on developing technological tools to advance personalised and precision medicine.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8218\" data-end=\"8414\">This project is funded by the <strong data-start=\"8248\" data-end=\"8291\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovaci\u00f3n y Universidades de Espa\u00f1a<\/span><\/span><\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"8300\" data-end=\"8343\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Agencia Estatal de Investigaci\u00f3n<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, with co-funding from the <strong data-start=\"8370\" data-end=\"8413\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER)<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"1qfya3t\" data-start=\"8416\" data-end=\"8455\">Bringing research closer to students<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"8457\" data-end=\"8650\">The Research Fair organised by <strong data-start=\"8488\" data-end=\"8531\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Divisi\u00f3n do Alumnado da Facultade de Inform\u00e1tica (DAFIC)<\/span><\/span><\/strong> aims to create a meeting space between researchers and students, encouraging interest in science and research careers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"8652\" data-end=\"8935\">The participation of the <strong data-start=\"8677\" data-end=\"8720\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">RePo-SUDOE<\/span><\/span><\/strong> team highlighted how artificial intelligence and bioinformatics are transforming the healthcare sector and demonstrated the impact that digital technologies can have on the development of new therapeutic solutions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The European project RePo-SUDOE took part last week in the Research Fair organised by the student association Divisi\u00f3n do Alumnado da Facultade de Inform\u00e1tica (DAFIC) at the Facultade de Inform\u00e1tica da Universidade da Coru\u00f1a.
