The PASTONATUR project invites public, private and civil society organisations to collaborate in promoting biodiversity, sustainability and the enhancement of extensive livestock farming in protected natural areas.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Transnational Network for the Conservation and Enhancement of Agroforestry Resources in Protected Natural Areas in the SUDOE Region<\/b><\/p>\n

This Network has been established as part of the PASTONATUR project \u2013 Conservation and Enhancement of Agroforestry Resources in Protected Natural Areas of the SUDOE region (Code S2\/2.7\/E0288), funded by the Interreg VI-B SUDOE Programme (2021\u20132027).<\/p>\n

The overall objective of the project is to conserve and restore biodiversity and mitigate climate change in agroforestry systems within protected areas in the SUDOE rural region<\/b>, working with extensive livestock farming from two perspectives:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Sustainability<\/b>: promoting regenerative management practices and methods that enhance biodiversity, increase carbon sequestration, promote animal welfare and conserve traditional agroforestry ecosystems.<\/li>\n
  2. Competitiveness and profitability<\/b>: promoting the value of products from extensive livestock farming and supporting the businesses involved, so that they can endure and continue to contribute to the dynamic conservation of protected areas.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    To achieve these objectives, the plan includes, amongst other actions, the creation of a Transnational Cooperation Network<\/b>, conceived as a collaborative space for the conservation and enhancement of agroforestry resources in the protected natural areas of the SUDOE region.<\/p>\n

    Composition of the Network:<\/b><\/p>\n

    The Network will initially consist of the project\u2019s beneficiary and partner organisations, whilst also promoting the integration of:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Public administrations with responsibilities for biodiversity, natural areas and extensive livestock farming.<\/li>\n
    • Sectoral and rural development organisations.<\/li>\n
    • Universities and research centres.<\/li>\n
    • Collaborating organisations, experts and interested members of the public.<\/li>\n
    • The companies and SMEs within the extensive livestock farming value chain themselves.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Objectives of the Network:<\/b><\/p>\n

      The main objectives of the Network are:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • To share information, knowledge and experiences<\/b> regarding extensive livestock farming and its contribution to biodiversity, the climate and socio-economic development.<\/li>\n
      • To collaborate on the development of common methodologies and pilot activities<\/b> to assess and demonstrate the benefits of regenerative extensive livestock farming.<\/li>\n
      • To promote the value of extensive livestock products<\/b> through common standards, short supply chains and gastronomic initiatives.<\/li>\n
      • To foster training and networking<\/b> among stakeholders involved in protected natural areas.<\/li>\n
      • To promote the transfer of results and solutions to public policy and the sector<\/b>, ensuring their applicability and adoption.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Benefits for member organisations:<\/b><\/p>\n

        Member organisations will be able to:<\/p>\n

          \n
        • Access information<\/b>, methodologies and innovative results on agroforestry management and regenerative extensive livestock farming.<\/li>\n
        • Increase their visibility<\/b> and prestige at an international level by linking up with a European project under the Interreg SUDOE Programme.<\/li>\n
        • Participate<\/b> in the transfer of solutions and in influencing public policy.<\/li>\n
        • Promote the sustainability and competitiveness<\/b> of their initiatives through product valorisation and access to pilot activities.<\/li>\n
        • Establish partnerships and contacts <\/b>with public administrations, universities, businesses, sectoral organisations and the public.<\/li>\n
        • Enhance the skills<\/b> of their staff through training and networking activities.<\/li>\n
        • Use collaborative tools<\/b> to interact and share information.<\/li>\n
        • Join the Network without any financial burden<\/b> or mandatory commitments regarding material resources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Network Operations<\/b><\/p>\n

          The working dynamic will be based on online collaborative tools that facilitate interaction, the exchange of documentation and the organisation of joint activities, such as:<\/p>\n

            \n
          • Instant messaging groups.<\/li>\n
          • Collaborative platforms (Teams, Slack or others) for discussion and document management.<\/li>\n
          • Video conferencing applications (Google Meet, Zoom).<\/li>\n
          • Shared document repositories (OneDrive, Google Drive).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Commitment of member organisations<\/b><\/p>\n

            The declaration of membership implies a commitment to participate in the fulfilment of the Network\u2019s objectives, without this entailing any financial obligation or requirement to contribute other material or human resources<\/b>, beyond the willingness to collaborate and contribute to the development of the common objectives.<\/p>\n
