On 16 June 2026, the Agrobotics-DiTwins project was presented in Tavira, Algarve, during the H2Oefficient 2.0 Field Day, an event dedicated to efficient water management in avocado cultivation. The activity was organised in the framework of the project\u2019s in-person visits and brought together key stakeholders from the regional agricultural sector.<\/p>\n

The session was jointly led by NERA <\/a>and the University of Algarve<\/a>, who introduced the project\u2019s main objectives, planned activities and opportunities for participation. The event provided an effective setting to disseminate Agrobotics-DiTwins among farmers, agricultural companies, technical experts, institutional representatives and organisations linked to agriculture, innovation and rural development.<\/p>\n

A total of 24 participants attended the activity, including agricultural producers, companies from the Algarve region, irrigation and water management specialists, representatives of agricultural associations, CCDR Algarve, researchers and institutional partners. The audience was highly relevant for the project, given its direct connection with irrigated agriculture and permanent crops, particularly avocado production.<\/p>\n

During the event, participants were informed about the project\u2019s diagnostic survey and encouraged to contribute their views on the challenges and opportunities associated with digitalisation, sustainability and technological innovation in agriculture. Project flyers were also distributed as communication and awareness-raising materials, supporting the dissemination of Agrobotics-DiTwins and its future activities.<\/p>\n

The programme also included a technical visit to the avocado orchard of JBI Agriculture, a company already involved in the project\u2019s diagnostic phase. This visit offered participants a practical context to discuss the realities of agricultural production and the specific challenges faced by farmers, especially in relation to efficient water management, sustainability and the adoption of innovative technologies.<\/p>\n

The activity generated several relevant outcomes for the project, including the dissemination of its objectives and expected results, the promotion of the diagnostic survey, the collection of contacts from stakeholders interested in future activities, and the identification of needs related to water efficiency, digitalisation and innovation in agriculture.<\/p>\n

The integration of the Agrobotics-DiTwins visit into the H2Oefficient 2.0 Field Day made it possible to reach a specialised and directly engaged audience, while optimising resources and strengthening collaboration with regional partners. The cooperation between NERA, the University of Algarve, AlgarOrange <\/a>and COTHN <\/a>proved particularly successful and opened the door to future collaborations and field visits.<\/p>\n

Following the activity, interested participants received further information about Agrobotics-DiTwins, including direct access to the diagnostic survey, in order to support their continued engagement with the project and its upcoming Living Labs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
