The event, which took place on 18 June and was organised by IUDESCOOP as part of the European ResilientES project, highlighted the role of cooperatives, foundations, financial institutions, solidarity economy networks, local authorities and universities in the socio-economic development of inland and non-urban areas.<\/p>\n

The Faculty of Law at the University of Valencia today hosted the ResilientES Social Economy Fair, held as part of the European ResilientES project: Social Economy, a driving force for the socio-economic development of inland and non-urban areas in the SUDOE region, funded by the Interreg SUDOE programme.<\/p>\n

The event was organised by the University Institute for Research into Social Economy, Cooperativism and Entrepreneurship (IUDESCOOP), in collaboration with the Faculty of Law at the University of Valencia and CIRIEC-Spain. The session was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Clara Viana; the Secretary of IUDESCOOP, Antonio Gonz\u00e1lez; the President of the Confederation of Cooperatives of the Valencian Community, Emilio Sampedro; and the project coordinator at IUDESCOOP, Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Va\u00f1\u00f3.<\/p>\n

The fair provided an opportunity to compare specific experiences in the fields of employment, entrepreneurship, care, cooperative financing, housing, regional innovation and rural development, all centred on a common theme: the social economy as a practical tool for strengthening regional cohesion, retaining the population and generating opportunities in rural, inland and non-urban areas.<\/p>\n

The ResilientES Fair has demonstrated that the Valencian social economy boasts a broad and diverse ecosystem, comprising cooperatives, foundations, solidarity networks, financial institutions, universities, local authorities and organisations promoting social inclusion. The challenge identified is not merely to create new initiatives, but to strengthen the connections between them: between universities and the local area, between urban and rural areas, between large organisations and micro-entities, and between funding, support, innovation and knowledge transfer.<\/p>\n

The day concluded with a networking session and an invitation to continue in the afternoon at the closing ceremony of IUDESCOOP\u2019s Master\u2019s and PhD programmes in Social Economy, reinforcing the link between university education, the social economy and regional development.<\/p>\n
