{"id":69710,"date":"2026-07-01T11:01:54","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T09:01:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/interreg-sudoe.eu\/?post_type=noticia-proyecto&#038;p=69710"},"modified":"2026-07-01T11:01:54","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T09:01:54","slug":"sudwama-advances-its-solutions-for-sustainable-water-management","status":"publish","type":"noticia-proyecto","link":"https:\/\/interreg-sudoe.eu\/en\/noticia-proyecto\/sudwama-advances-its-solutions-for-sustainable-water-management\/","title":{"rendered":"SudWaMa advances its solutions for sustainable water management"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">The partners of SudWaMa, an innovative project co-funded by the Interreg Sudoe Programme, gathered in France this June for the initiative\u2019s Annual Consortium Meeting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">During a two-day encounter, SudWaMa members reviewed and discussed the progress made in the first year of activity and shared the challenges involved in developing the project\u2019s sustainable water management solutions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">The project targets institutional buildings, which serve as demonstrators and living laboratories for testing innovative water solutions under real-world conditions. By focusing on these facilities, SudWaMa aims to generate evidence that is both technically robust and directly applicable to public and private decision-making.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">The meeting was held at the facilities of \u00c9cole Sup\u00e9rieure des Technologies Industrielles Avanc\u00e9es (ESTIA) at Bidart, one of the pilot sites where SudWaMa technologies are being tested. The others are located in Coimbra (Portugal), Madrid (Spain) and the Basque Country (Spain).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Specifically, at the ESTIA Campus, a \u201cWater Smart Grid\u201d has been implemented to collect, store and manage rainwater for toilet flushing, irrigation and cleaning, using sensors equipped with IoT and AI technologies. The pilot will also explore the use of dry urinals to transform urine into fertiliser, as well as the creation of wetlands to store water and mitigate the impact of heavy rainfall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">The partners visited the site to see the progress of the demonstrator firsthand.
