With the arrival of spring, on 24 March 2026, work to adapt the wastewater treatment systems, the irrigation system and the plot allocated to industrial tomato cultivation at the Carri\u00f3n de los C\u00e9spedes pilot site was successfully completed, marking a key milestone in the development of this I-ReWater experimental trial in the region of Andalusia (southern Spain).<\/p>\n
The work carried out on the plot included land preparation, the planting of industrial tomatoes and the start of irrigation using both well water and reclaimed water, in line with I-ReWater\u2019s objectives of optimising the use of water resources and promoting agricultural sustainability. The corresponding phytosanitary treatments were also applied, ensuring suitable conditions for the proper development of the crop from its earliest stages.<\/p>\n
As part of the pilot, sensors were also installed on the plot, enabling the real-time monitoring of key agronomic parameters and supporting data-driven decision-making.<\/p>\n
