A team from CEIGRAM-UPM, partner of SudWaMa Project (SUDoe SUstainable Water Management), took part in the 2nd edition of REUSE-EuroMed Congress in Madrid from June 17 to 19. During the event, the member of the consortium introduced the initiative, which aims to address the challenges of water use efficiency and water quality in institutional buildings.<\/p>\n

Currently, the project is conducting pilot studies in France, Spain, and Portugal and analyzing the main barriers and opportunities for promoting innovative solutions for water management and reuse.<\/p>\n

Irene Blanco and Paloma Esteve, researchers at CEIGRAM-UPM, presented in the forum regulatory frameworks and circular water management in institutional buildings in the SUDOE region, explaining the growing pressure on conventional water systems in the region due to rising urban water demand and climate change. Their presentation included a systematic review and regulatory analysis of policies, legal frameworks, technical standards, and best practices for circular water management in institutional buildings.<\/p>\n

In addition, SudWaMa coordinator Eider de la Cruz Mugica participated in the roundtable discussion \u201cInterreg SUDOE Projects,\u201d alongside representatives from other European initiatives: I-REWATER, TARGET, and SOLLAGUA projects, as well as the COST Action CA23104 Water4Reuse.<\/p>\n

The session, moderated by Gloria L\u00e1zaro (SUDOE Joint Secretariat), provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and explore synergies among these projects aimed at promoting more sustainable and resilient water resource management.<\/p>\n

The 2nd REUSE-EuroMed Congress, an international conference focused on water reuse in Europe and the Mediterranean region, was co-organized by the I-ReWater Project together with the Spanish Association of Irrigation and Drainage (AERYD) and PROePLA (Campus Terra \u2013 University of Santiago de Compostela), in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food and Vega Innova.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
