These digital twins integrate data from local and remote sensors to simulate, analyze, and optimize the operation of irrigation systems under various scenarios, such as water scarcity, climate change, or crop modifications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"599\" data-end=\"806\">The main objective is to develop an adaptable tool for generating digital twins in irrigation installations (drip or pivot) applicable to different configurations and types of crops (herbaceous and woody).<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"808\" data-end=\"842\"><strong data-start=\"813\" data-end=\"840\">Progress in Pilot Plots<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"843\" data-end=\"1169\">The project includes the implementation of digital twins in several pilot plots located in regions of the SUDOE space (Catalonia with a maize plot, Andalusia with an olive grove, Murcia with a vineyard, Nouvelle-Aquitaine with a maize plot, and Alentejo with an olive grove). These plots are managed by voluntary irrigators.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1171\" data-end=\"1443\">The information provided by the irrigators facilitates the virtual reproduction of the irrigation system in these plots. The results from the pilot plots make it easier to transfer the digital twin generation tool to other plots of different sizes, crops, and locations.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1445\" data-end=\"1481\"><strong data-start=\"1450\" data-end=\"1479\">Technological Development<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1482\" data-end=\"1722\">The tool is implemented as a <strong data-start=\"1511\" data-end=\"1521\">plugin<\/strong> for the QGIS geographic information system, an open-source software developed in <strong data-start=\"1603\" data-end=\"1613\">Python<\/strong>.
