The European HITTS project, funded by the Interreg Sudoe programme, has developed a common strategy to promote innovative and sustainable socioeconomic development in rural areas across the SUDOE region. The document proposes a model based on the enhancement of cultural and natural heritage, participatory governance, public-private collaboration, and sustainable tourism as tools to combat depopulation, strengthen territorial cohesion, and generate new economic opportunities. The strategy also incorporates principles related to sustainability, the New European Bauhaus, and slow tourism, offering a transferable and adaptable framework for other rural European territories.<\/p>\n
