Project summary

The agricultural systems of the SUDOE territory must undertake innovative changes to guarantee quality food production while minimizing negative impacts on the environment. The main objective of AgroGreen-SUDOE is to generate robust information, adapted to the regional realities of the SUDOE territory, in order to co-design, evaluate and propose agricultural management practices, focused on the optimization of fertilization and irrigation, of In such a way as to minimize the pollution of water and the atmosphere, as well as the emission of greenhouse gases, while maintaining the natural functions of the soil, wetlands, and surface and groundwater. The main result of the project will be to develop a planning tool for the main hydrographic basins of the SUDOE territory that shows, visually and dynamically, the environmental impact of different agricultural management and changes in land use on hydrosystems, soils and the atmosphere. in a context of climate change. The transboundary condition of contamination makes transnational cooperation essential within the framework of our project. In addition, it seeks to co-design the management strategies of agroecosystems with regional and actor sensitivity, which requires the active concurrence of actors from the entire SUDOE space. Project activities will be supported by collaboration between end users, managers and researchers, from all territories of the SUDOE space, under the umbrella of a multi-actor platform. Based on a diagnosis, this will make it possible to recommend practices adapted to the realities of the end users, who, by sharing the information among equals, will increase their generalization potential and the durability of the project's products. This innovative element will allow the farmer to offer quality information on the agri-environmental impact of his decisions, making his farms more sustainable and leading him to align himself with national objectives and the new Common Agricultural Policy in terms of environmental protection.
