El Parque Agrario del Baix Llobregat es el principal principal centro de producción alimentaria del área metropolitana de Barcelona, y con más de 3.000 ha, tiene el potencial para convertirse en la huerta de Barcelona, lo que representaría una oportunidad de generación de riqueza, consumo de cercanía y seguridad alimentaria. Para esto, el Parque Agrario debe someterse a una modernización a partir de un replanteamiento estratégico y adaptación de la regulación para que, manteniendo su esencia de espacio natural protegido compatible con actividades agrarias, evolucione hacia un modelo productivo innovador, donde puedan implementarse y desarrollarse los últimos avances en I+D agroalimentaria y evitar el abandono sistemático de la actividad productiva del parque y convertirlo en fuente de ocupación de calidad, regeneración y diversificación económica del territorio y autoaprovisionamiento alimentario.
