As part of the collaboration between the Interreg Sudoe projects REMAIN and Fashion Forward, a joint event will be held on 4 March at FUTURMODA, the International Trade Fair for Components, Leather, Textiles and Machinery for Footwear and Leather Goods, taking place at IFA – Fira Alacant (Elche, Alicante).
Each edition of FUTURMODA brings together more than 300 exhibiting companies from Spain, Portugal, France, Italy and other countries, and welcomes over 6,000 visitors, consolidating its position as one of the sector’s leading international meeting points.
In this context, José Francisco Gómez, Head of the Advanced Manufacturing Unit at Inescop, lead partner of the REMAIN project, will deliver the presentation entitled “Remanufacturable Footwear: Opportunities Offered by Intelligent Robotics for the Industry”. During his presentation, he will address the role of remanufacturing as a key strategy to extend the lifespan of footwear and recover industrial value within the framework of the circular economy. He will also present the project’s progress in developing intelligent multi-robot solutions capable of tackling one of the sector’s main technical challenges: the handling and reconditioning of deformable products. This line of work enables the transformation of end-of-life products into a new industrial and competitive opportunity.
Lídia Morcillo, Innovation Manager at Modacc, coordinating entity of the Fashion Forward project, will deliver the talk “Fashion Forward: How Circularity Can Boost the Competitiveness of Textile and Fashion Companies”. The session will present the key results of this European initiative, aimed at providing practical tools to textile and fashion companies in Spain, southern France and Portugal to advance towards the circular economy, in a context of increasing environmental regulatory requirements.
The event is open to the public and offers a valuable opportunity to learn first-hand how cooperation within the Sudoe area fosters innovative solutions to strengthen competitiveness and support the circular transition of the footwear and fashion sectors.
Attendance is free of charge. Registration can be completed through FUTURMODA, either in advance via the following link or directly at the venue on the day of the fair: Registration link
