Pablo Estévez Torrado, representative of Gestagua, presented the progress of the I-ReWater project at the ‘5th International Water Congress. Water as a sustainable resource – science, business and well-being’, held at the Ourense Campus of the University of Vigo.
The presentation was part of the symposium on the circular economy and generated an interesting debate among attendees, particularly regarding the project’s pilot schemes and the process of legalising reclaimed urban water in the municipalities of Carballo and Lugo.
Gestagua is one of the partner entities of I-ReWater, collaborating as a technology partner by supplying reclaimed water from the tertiary treatment of four urban wastewater treatment plants located in Carballo (A Coruña) and Lugo, for use in irrigating the hop cultivation pilot plots in Abegondo (A Coruña) and Cubillos del Sil (León).
In addition, Gestagua is responsible for the analytical control of the reclaimed water, guaranteeing its quality in accordance with current regulations, as well as the supply of storage tanks for reclaimed water and the hydraulic equipment necessary to adapt the irrigation systems.
