ROBOTA-SUDOE Establishes Working Group to Advance Collaborative Robotics Innovation

In December 2024, the ROBOTA-SUDOE project reached a new milestone by hosting a strategic online workshop bringing together researchers and external stakeholders. The aim was to guide the development of next-generation robotic cells for the meat and toy sectors.

This online event marks the official launch of a dedicated working group tasked with defining the project’s technical framework, both in terms of hardware and software.

Four Robotic Cells Under Development

Partners presented four demonstrators currently being designed:

  • An industrial demonstrator at CeTeCa focused on robot-assisted meat cutting operations.

  • An industrial demonstrator at Juema dedicated to doll assembly and demoulding.

  • A living lab at CiTIUS–USC for learning complex tasks from human demonstrations.

  • A living lab at CA INP aimed at providing physical assistance to operators performing strenuous tasks.

Engaging the Wider European Ecosystem

To ensure the relevance and real-world applicability of the solutions, several external stakeholders specialising in collaborative robotics were invited to contribute their expertise.

Among them:

  • The REMAIN project, focused on the use of collaborative robots in shoe remanufacturing.

  • ADIV, a leading French institute for innovation in the meat sector.

  • HURO, a robotics research group at the University of Alicante specialising in visual servoing and force control.

  • AIN (Asociación de la Industria Navarra), a technology centre specialising in smart factories.

The discussions led to concrete recommendations on ergonomics, robotic integration and adaptive intelligence. The partnerships initiated during the workshop will further strengthen the innovation ecosystem across south-west Europe and reinforce the project’s cross-border ambition.
