Valorisation of agri-food residues for therapeutic purposes: Universidad de Zaragoza organises a scientific colloquium within the framework of NEWPOWER

On 11 March 2026, Universidad de Zaragoza will host the scientific colloquium “Valorisation of agri-food residues for therapeutic purposes”, a session dedicated to exploring how residual biomass can be transformed into bioactive compounds with innovative therapeutic applications.

📅 11 March 2026
🕥 10:30 – 14:10
📍 Faculty of Veterinary Medicine – Assembly Hall (Miguel Servet, 177 – Zaragoza)
💻 Online participation available

As a partner of the NEWPOWER project, Universidad de Zaragoza contributes to the study of bioactive properties and therapeutic effects of plant extracts obtained from agroforestry residues. This colloquium is part of this scientific work and reflects the commitment to sharing knowledge with the academic community and strategic sectors linked to the bioeconomy.

The programme will address:

  • advanced extraction technologies,

  • controlled production of nanomaterials and

  • new therapeutic strategies derived from agri-food residues.

The session is particularly aimed at the scientific and academic community, master’s and PhD students, professionals from the agri-food, pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors, as well as stakeholders interested in circular economy and bioeconomy.

This event offers an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into how research developed within NEWPOWER is advancing towards innovative solutions with environmental and health impact.
