Chrome Dur Industriel has installed new facilities to bring an optimized trivalent hard chrome plating process into industrial use. This innovative and more sustainable plating process, developed within the RESINSURF project, aims to offer a safer alternative to traditional methods by avoiding toxic hexavalent chromium while providing durable, corrosion-resistant coatings for industrial parts. The optimization focuses on practical steps to integrate the process smoothly into existing production lines, supporting cleaner manufacturing with less environmental impact. These facilities mark a key step in transferring RESINSURF innovations to real-world applications, and Chrome Dur Industriel ‘s efforts highlight progress toward greener surface treatments in industry.
RESINSURF, coordinated by CIDETEC Surface Engineering and cofunded by the Interreg Sudoe programme, promotes cross-border cooperation across southern Europe (Spain, France, Portugal) to develop eco-friendly surface treatments that replace hazardous substances like hexavalent chromium. The programme supports innovation, training, and digital monitoring for greener, competitive industries while protecting workers and the environment in line with EU regulations.
