Within the context of the Science and Technology Week and as part of the activities associated with the European RePo-SUDOE project, students and teachers from the Clube de Ciência Viva Eurek@EPAC carried out an institutional visit to the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda (IPG). The initiative aimed to strengthen direct contact with scientific and technological research developed in the academic environment, as well as to promote interest in science among young people.
The visit focused on a practical immersion in different fields of knowledge. Throughout the morning, participants attended laboratory demonstrations, interactive experiments and presentations of ongoing technological projects, allowing them to gain first-hand insight into research methodologies, practical applications of technology and the lines of work developed at IPG.
The programme included opportunities for dialogue with lecturers and researchers from the institution, who explained the impact of applied research and the role of innovation in regional development, aspects that are aligned with the objectives of the RePo-SUDOE project. These interactions facilitated a deeper understanding of the university environment and of the educational and scientific opportunities available.
Teachers from CCV Eurek@EPAC highlighted the educational value of this type of initiative, emphasizing its contribution to broadening academic horizons, fostering critical thinking and encouraging scientific vocations. The visit was considered a relevant formative experience, as it complemented classroom learning with real research contexts.
CCV Eurek@EPAC expressed its appreciation to the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda for the warm reception, availability and high quality of the shared content. The activity strengthens cooperation between both institutions and consolidates a shared commitment to scientific dissemination and the education of new generations, in line with the principles of the RePo-SUDOE project.
