Consortium Meeting in Cartagena

Advancing Climate Transition in Southwestern Europe

The RTL – Rural Transition Labs project, funded by the Interreg Sudoe Programme, convened in person from 29 to 31 January in Cartagena to further its work on promoting innovative solutions to water scarcity and sustainability in rural areas of Southwestern Europe.

The seven partner organisations from Portugal, Spain and France focused on the following agenda:

  • Defining a shared strategy for rural transitions across Southwestern Europe;
  • Implementing innovative solutions to address water scarcity and enhance rural resilience;
  • Strengthening cooperative tools to foster synergies among local rural transition projects;
  • Identifying policies and funding opportunities to support the Labs’ work in the medium and long term.

The meeting also benefited from contributions by associate partners L’Escuro – CPIE des Pays Creusois and Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

The working session concluded with a roundtable at the Cartagena Municipal Archive, featuring closing remarks by José Ramón Llorca, Councillor for Agriculture and Natural Environment, and Cristina Mora, Deputy Councillor for European Projects and Sustainable Cities of the Cartagena City Council.
