The participatory workshop held on Tuesday, 14 October at the Centre de Congressos d’Andorra la Vella was one of five I-ReWater meetings to draw up the Transnational Strategy for the use of reclaimed water, which we will present in 2026.
The conference provided an opportunity to discuss and learn more about the use of reclaimed water in the Principality of Andorra, a resource that is beginning to gain visibility thanks to the research work of I-ReWater. Throughout the various presentations, we were able to see the enormous potential of reclaimed water as a safe water resource in agriculture, a key element for sustainability and adaptation to climate change, as well as for moving towards water resilience in Europe.
The Government of Andorra is currently working on a Water Law that will include the regulatory framework for the reuse of reclaimed water. This is a central issue in the country’s strategy to respond to water scarcity and environmental challenges, and the I-ReWater project will undoubtedly contribute to laying the foundations for its safe use in agriculture.
Thank you to all the experts and organisations they represent for accepting the invitation to participate in this conference organised in Andorra by partners Govern d’Andorra and the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela:
