The REMAIN project will participate in the conference organized by the Interreg Sudoe Fashion Forward project, as part of the EU Green Week 2025. The event, held under the theme “Circular Economy: Reuse, Repair, Recycle for a Better Life,” will take place on June 27 at the Halles de la Cartoucherie in Toulouse, France.
José Francisco Gómez, Head of the Advanced Manufacturing Area at Inescop and coordinator of the REMAIN project, along with María Dolores Fabregat, Head of Automation and Robotics at Inescop, will travel to France to present REMAIN. They will outline the main goals of this European initiative, which focuses on the implementation of advanced technologies for the remanufacturing of consumer goods, with a particular emphasis on the footwear and textile sectors.
The REMAIN project aims to foster the development of robotic technologies designed to facilitate the reuse of manufactured products. This includes the creation of a pilot system capable of detecting and assessing damage in products such as footwear, and preparing them for reintegration into the production cycle, making remanufacturing possible and extending their useful life.
Both REMAIN and Fashion Forward are co-funded by the Interreg Sudoe Programme through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The Fashion Forward project addresses the challenges faced by the EU textile and fashion industry in response to the European Green Deal, which calls for a more sustainable and circular management of textile waste.
This event will bring together experts, professionals, and institutional representatives committed to the circular economy, who will share insights and solutions that promote sustainability in manufacturing sectors such as textiles and footwear. The programme will also include a presentation of the Fashion Forward project results, a masterclass on the application of ISO 26000 in the context of textile circularity, and the launch of the Recyclocal project, among other activities.
REMAIN is led by Inescop – Footwear Technology Centre, with the participation of the Universities of Zaragoza, Alicante, Coimbra, and Clermont Auvergne INP; the Spanish Federation of Footwear Industries (FICE); French company SMA-RTY; Spanish company Automática y Control Numérico S.L.; AIDA CCI; and the social association Proyecto Lázaro as a collaborating entity.
