The RESINSURFproject, part of the Interreg Sudoe Programme, held its fourth consortium meeting on 15–16 October at the University of Aveiro (UAVR), which hosted the event. Representatives from all partner organisations met to share progress, strengthen cooperation, and review developments in sustainable surface treatments.
The participants visited the UAVR and Smallmatek facilities, where teams presented experimental tests focused on developing corrosion inhibitors and integrating them into the formulations used in RESINSURF pilot actions. Attendees highlighted the high level of innovation, scientific rigour, and commitment of the Portuguese teams, as well as the excellent organisation and hospitality of UAVR.
This fourth meeting also served to review the project’s technical and communication progress, plan upcoming joint actions, and define new dissemination, training, and technology transfer initiatives in the SUDOE region. The event closed in an atmosphere of collaboration and enthusiasm, reflecting the strong momentum driving RESINSURF forward.
The main goal of RESINSURF is to replace toxic surface treatments, such as those based on hexavalent chromium, with safer and smarter alternatives. Alongside its technical work, the project promotes training and workshops for professionals and students, facilitating industrial adaptation to European sustainability regulations.
Through the Interreg Sudoe Programme, RESINSURF contributes to the ecological and digital transition of the southwestern European industry, offering solutions that combine competitiveness, innovation, and environmental responsibility.
