The reuse of urban water in agriculture will be one of the topics of discussion during the workshop ‘Agricultura e Alimentação’, to be held on Wednesday, 21 May at the EsACT Auditorium (Mirandela, Portugal). The forum is part of the Ano da Água 2025 programme, promoted by the Laboratório Associado para a Sustentabilidade e Tecnologia em Regiões de Montanha (LA – SusTEC) of the Instituto Politécnico de Bragança, a partner of I-ReWater.
During the conference, Javier J. Cancela, coordinator of the I-ReWater project and professor at the Campus Terra of the University of Santiago de Compostela, will talk about the role that the use of reclaimed urban water will play in agriculture in northwest Portugal.
The programme will also feature José Silvestre, researcher at the Instituto Nacional de Investigação Agrária e Veterinária (INIAV, IP), who will talk about precision technology for deficit irrigation in vineyards and olive trees.

Portugal is one of the four partner countries of I-ReWater’s applied research, in which it participates with four pilots to study the impact of the use of reclaimed water in olive, almond and vineyard crops.
