Entrepeneur SCAIRA: Javier Castillo (Setesur)

Meet Javier Carrillo, selected in the first call for applications with his project Setesur.

Tell us briefly about yourself and your background!

I am specialised in International Business Development. I have developed my career in different sectors, such as consulting or telecommunications, in areas focused on internationalization and strategic management. Academically, I have completed a Master’s degree in International Business Management, after graduating in International Relations and after having been on a scholarship in Switzerland at the University of Zurich.

Since 2022, I have been with Setesur as Business Development Manager. In 2023, I participated in an intrapreneurship project and founded Setenova, where I am CEO. Setenova positions itself as a spin-off of the Setesur group, known for its significant technological impact. Its goal is to offer a differential IT consulting and systems integration service, using the latest cutting-edge technologies and agile methodologies.

How did you find out about SCAIRA?

Through CEEIM, where Setenova has a workspace.

What stage is your startup currently at?

We are currently in the early traction phase, with the first customers and projects starting at the end of 2024.

What is the nature of your project, and what problem does it aim to solve?

Our goal is to be a partner that facilitates the digitisation processes of large customers and public administrations, offering an approach of agility and implementation of disruptive technologies to solve integration and interoperability problems. We hope to be able to work with strategic sector companies, and we can maximise the projects that are carried out with these accounts through a commercial upselling strategy.

Which SCAIRA services have you chosen?

  • Intellectual property training: until now we have not developed any of our own products, so we do not have IP experience to be able to protect our developments.
  • Financial strategy towards innovation and sustainable manufacturing and public-private financing opportunities for start-ups and green innovations: we want to know alternative ways of financing, maximising the return.
  • National public funding opportunities for start-ups and green innovations.
  • Technical and sustainable roadmap: We want to enhance the sustainability approach in our company.
  • Measurement and impact of an industrial project and environmental sustainability criteria: continue to deepen the professionalisation of project management, especially in areas of impact measurement to communicate the value they bring.
  • Preparation of presentations for industrial partners and investors: improve the preparation of dissemination and commercial actions.
  • B2B meetings between startups and industrial partners and B2F meetings between startups and investors: increase our networking network and exposure to potential partners and customers.

What are your short-term objectives during the acceleration programme?

We would like to deepen our knowledge and key skills in business management. These skills will allow us to improve the professionalisation of the company’s leadership profiles and acquire specific insights on entrepreneurship and startups, where we have less previous experience.

Who is your target market, and what customer need are you addressing?

Our target market is large corporations and medium-sized public administrations, and the need we focus on is the development of innovative use cases on the client’s existing systems to solve bottlenecks and dysfunctional processes.

What are your main current challenges?

Our main challenge is to consolidate our technical team and attract talent.

Do you already have a team?

Yes, in addition to my role as CEO, which focusses on management, we have Alberto Granero serving as CTO, Pablo Quevedo overseeing DevOps, and Alberto Lopez acting as an expert in backend and data integration.
