Piezometer Study for Groundwater Monitoring in La Moraña

Diagnostico participativo La Moraña

Within the framework of the GestEAUr project, a piezometric study is being carried out in the La Moraña region (Castilla y León, Spain) with the aim of improving knowledge of groundwater dynamics and supporting more sustainable water resource management in the area.

Several piezometers have been installed at strategic locations to continuously monitor groundwater levels. The data collected provide essential information to understand aquifer behavior, identify trends in water level fluctuations, and assess the influence of factors such as agricultural activity and climatic conditions.

The analysis of the data is currently underway and will allow the project team to evaluate the potential for sustainable aquifer recharge, a key element for ensuring long-term water availability in this predominantly rural territory where groundwater plays a crucial role.

The results of this study will provide a solid technical basis to support decision-making in water management and to inform the design of future measures aimed at improving the efficiency, sustainability, and resilience of local water systems. This activity is fully aligned with the overall objectives of the GestEAUr project, which seeks to promote sustainable and climate-resilient water management in rural areas of the SUDOE space.
