L’Établissement Public de Santé de Garazi (EPS Garazi) and L’Ecole d’ingénieurs ESTIA have been piloting the REVITAL project in their area of action in France since January 2025. The following technological devices have been implemented in the cantons of Baigorry-Garazi and Iholdi-Oztibarre, in the French Basque Country, in collaboration between the two entities:
- Hank exoskeleton for gait training.
- Belk exoskeleton for knee rehabilitation.
- Helk exoskeleton for the reduction of musculoskeletal disorders in professionals.
- Vitalstim Plus: electrotherapy for swallowing disorders.
- MediMoov Platform: video games for working on cognitive functions, mobility and balance.
- Annual subscriptions to Cérébro and Fonctionsexecutives.com: applications for language rehabilitation and cognitive functions respectively.
42 people benefiting from the technology
For the general population and professionals, the REVITAL project offers an opportunity to benefit from new technological means for rehabilitation and stimulation. Thus, our pilot project in France aims to create new forms of collaboration between hospital and out-of-hospital services.
Several professionals are using these tools: physiotherapists, speech therapists, psychomotor therapists, psychologists, occupational therapists, animators in homes for the elderly and nursing assistants. These professionals work in the EPS Garazi and/or in the liberal professions.
After an important communication campaign, the professionals of the EPS Garazi and the liberal rehabilitators interested in participating in the project have been trained in the use of these tools. The practical modality of this collaboration was defined during this training period.
So far, 42 people have been able to benefit from these technological devices in the EPS Garazi (hospital and residences) during rehabilitation sessions with speech therapists and outpatient physiotherapists.
Next meeting of the REVITAL consortium in Garazi
The REVITAL project is based on the cross-border cooperation of the entities participating in it. This cooperation can be materialised again on 27 and 28 May, when a meeting will take place at the EPS Garazi, which will also be attended by the Spanish and Portuguese members of the consortium.
These meetings are important moments for the REVITAL project, as they allow us to discuss the difficulties encountered and the progress made in the pilot cases in the 3 countries. This cooperative work allows us to share our experiences and contributes to the continuity of REVITAL and the achievement of its objectives.
The pilot case in France will be active until December 2025 and we will continue to disseminate information about REVITAL in order to widen access to these technologies for others.
