GestEAUr: Signing of the FEDER Agreement

The Santemar Hotel in Santander was chosen as the venue for the signing of the FEDER (European Regional Development Fund) grant agreement for the projects approved in the first call of the sixth edition of the Interreg SUDOE 2021-2027 program. Among the 34 selected projects is GestEAUr, an initiative aimed at improving the sustainable management of water in rural areas.

During the event, held on April 16 and 17, D. Santiago Zazo del Dedo and D. Juan Carlos García Prieto, members of the Water Engineering and Management Group (IGA) and the Water Research and Technological Development Center (CIDTA) at the University of Salamanca, represented the GestEAUr project. They highlighted the project’s relevance as a key tool to address climate change challenges and optimize the use of water resources in southwestern European regions.

The inaugural ceremony was led by the Regional Minister of Economy, Finance, and European Funds of the Government of Cantabria, D. Luis Ángel Agüeros, who underscored the importance of projects funded by the Interreg SUDOE program in promoting balanced territorial development and innovation in Europe. He also emphasized the central role of initiatives like GestEAUr in preserving natural resources and fostering social cohesion in rural areas.

Over the two days, the GestEAUr team actively participated in workshops and collaborative sessions organized by the program’s Joint Secretariat. These activities provided a valuable opportunity to establish strategic alliances with other projects and strengthen the foundations for the successful implementation of GestEAUr in the selected territories.
