The Navarre Biomass Office and the BIO4RES Project will be the protagonists of the conference ‘Biomass 360° in Navarre: from forest management and fire prevention to industrial consumption’, to be held on Monday 20 October at the Zudaire Las Améscoas Public School, as part of Navarre Climate Week.
The initiative aims to show how biomass recovery can become a key tool for rural resilience, fire risk reduction and the promotion of sustainable energy consumption in Navarra, strengthening the connection between the territory, education and the industrial sector.
The conference is structured in three main blocks:
- Block 1 (9:30 – 11:30). This will consist of a workshop to transfer the results of the BIO4RES pilot projects, focusing on forest biomass and fire prevention. This activity fulfils the commitments made within the framework of the project, according to which the entities responsible for the pilot actions (A2.2, A2.3, A2.4 and A2.5) must organise transfer workshops with partner entities, associates and territorial actors from the four participating territories.
In addition, it will involve the participation of students from pilot project 4, integrating the results of pilots A2.2, A2.3 and A2.4 into the training, and facilitating the meeting between students and forestry companies to promote their employment in the sector.
- Block 2 (12:00 – 14:15). In this block, the Navarra Biomass Office will analyse the supply capacity and demand for biomass on an industrial scale in Navarra. It will present the results of a recent study and share experiences beyond regional boundaries.
- Block 3 (16:30 – 18:30). Field trip to Monte Limitaciones de las Améscoas to learn about its historical evolution, its traditional and current uses and applications, and the effects that climate change may have on this area.
A networking lunch will be held between sessions (2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.) where students, companies and organisations can exchange experiences and strengthen ties.
The conference is aimed at forestry companies, organisations linked to biomass, specialists in natural resource management, local organisations, technical staff and the general public, as well as the partners and associates of the BIO4RES Project.
