As part of its strong commitment to innovation in higher education, the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda has carried out the first trials of a pilot virtual reality room designed for the three-dimensional visualization of biological systems. This initiative is part of the European RePo-SUDOE project, which aims to integrate emerging technologies into academic training across the southwest of Europe.
On April 22 and 24, students from the Bachelor’s degree in Medical Biotechnology took part in the initial tests, exploring three-dimensional models of molecular and biological structures in an immersive virtual environment. The experience offered a new learning perspective by enabling direct interaction with scientific content in 3D format.
Still in an experimental phase, the visualization room is intended to become a cutting-edge educational environment that complements traditional teaching with advanced digital tools. This technology opens new opportunities for active learning, biomedical research, and the development of innovative solutions in the health sector.
Through this initiative, the RePo-SUDOE project strengthens its role as a reference in the integration of new technologies in scientific education, reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence and digital transformation.
