Fifth Cultur-Monts meeting in the Asturian window: Vigaña (Belmonte de Miranda)!

The fifth working meeting of the Cultur-Monts consortium will be held in the municipality of Belmonte de Miranda (Asturias) from 18 to 21 May.

During these days, the Cultur-Monts international team will continue to advance in the implementation of the project, combining internal work sessions with field trips to recognise the heritage linked to the landscape of Belmonte de Miranda. The aim of the meeting is to understand in detail the characteristics of the mountain cultural landscapes of the Asturian window.

The programme of the conference focuses on the methodologies of heritage valorisation, the processes of knowledge transfer with an educational perspective (educating territories) and the participation of local agents (social, cultural, political and economic) in all these processes. The field visits and meeting spaces with local agents and the educational community will allow us to deepen the concept of ‘School of Territory’/ ‘School of Landscape’.

The members of the consortium will visit different parts of the council to learn about the research and transfer work carried out by the LLABOR-Social Landscapes Group at the archaeological sites of Llinares, Vigaña, Cueiru and the Los Fuexos hut. They will also discover the details of the educational project ConCiencia Histórica, developed together with the Belmonte de Miranda Public School.

The meeting focuses on the participation of local actors to jointly identify needs, expectations and opportunities linked to the project. For this reason, on Monday 19 May, an intersectoral round table has been organised at the Sociocultural Centre of Belmonte. It will be attended by local businessmen, politicians, researchers, managers and educators, with the aim of raising actions, resources and needs, and to advance together in the achievement of the objectives of the Cultur-Monts project.

Among these objectives, the management of the heritage linked to the mountain cultural landscapes stands out, in order to turn them into a tool for the revitalisation, innovation and sustainable transformation of the territory, generating transforming synergies in the axis heritage-culture-tourism-habitability.

Everything is ready for the discovery of the cultural landscapes of Belmonte de Miranda!
