The Regional Minister of Innovation, Industry, Trade, and Tourism of the Valencian Region Marián Cano, visited the stand of the Spanish Footwear Industries Federation (FICE) during the MICAM trade fair in Milan, one of the most important footwear fairs in the world. During the meeting, the REMAIN project was presented, along with an update on its progress.
In addition to the Minister of Industry, the meeting was attended by Rosana Perán Bazán, President of FICE; Salvador Gómez, Secretary General of FICE; Milagros López, Director of Administration and Finance; Ester Olivas, Director General of Entrepreneurship and Internationalization (IVACE); Vicente Pastor, President of the Valencian Association of Footwear Entrepreneurs (Avecal); and Mari Ángeles López, Secretary General of Avecal.
The discussion focused on one of the key objectives of the REMAIN project: promoting sustainability within the footwear, textile, and furniture industries. The project aims to introduce remanufacturing as part of the business model in these sectors to reduce waste generation and minimize the environmental impact of industrial activities.
Project Partners
The REMAIN project is led by INESCOP – the Spanish Footwear Technology Center – and involves the participation of the Spanish Footwear Industries Federation (FICE), AIDA CCI, and the Universities of Alicante, Clermont Auvergne INP, Coimbra, and Zaragoza. It also includes the Spanish company Automatic Control Numerical SL, the French company SMA-RTY, and the social association Proyecto Lázaro as a collaborating entity.
Additionally, REMAIN is part of the Interreg Sudoe program, the Territorial Cooperation Program for the Southwest European Space, which supports regional development through the co-financing of transnational projects via the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
