SCAIRA holds its third in-person consortium meeting in Murcia (Spain)

SCAIRA: CM Murcia

The consortium held its first face-to-face meeting of the year with a view to the activities planned for the launch of the second call for applications for the acceleration programme.

The meeting further shaped the upcoming 24-hour hackathon HACK4SCAIRA, set to take place simultaneously in France, Portugal, and Spain on 14 and 15 March.

The project partners met in Murcia on 28 and 29 February for the third in-person consortium meeting of SCAIRA, which is about to celebrate its first anniversary. The agenda of the meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the Spanish partner, CEEIM, a non-profit organisation whose mission is to promote entrepreneurship and business innovation in society while encouraging entrepreneurial culture at an early age, covered a large number of topics.

Day 1: rewind to rethink

CM Murcia

After the traditional welcome coffee, the first day began with a review of work package 1—territorial and industrial challenges in the automotive and aeronautics sectors. The Portuguese partner MOBINOV presented deliverable 1.1.1, a white paper that “highlights the critical contributions of both the automotive and aeronautical industries, recognizing their shared relevance in advancing sustainability and circularity within the SUDOE region.” A document that will be available for consultation in the coming days on the project website.

This intervention gave way to the second block of the day, focused on analysing the launch of the first call for applications of the acceleration programme, which closed on 27 February. From a positive point of view, it was emphasised that the multilingual promotional campaign has been based on the key messages contained in the communication and dissemination strategy, the number of applicants to the acceleration programme is growing, and the consortium has proven to be internally coordinated and able to cope with unforeseen changes or crisis situations, like the exit of the former partner IMT Mines of Albi.

The difficulties encountered in attracting profiles less closely related to the project sectors, as well as the level of specialisation of the Challenges proposed in the application process, were also assessed. In order to facilitate participation, the Challenges of the second call will be more generic and less technical; in addition, projects with up to ten years of maturity will be allowed to apply for the acceleration programme. After recharging the batteries with lunch, the first day of exchanges and brainstorming concluded with a section devoted to clearing up administrative doubts and establishing coordination actions.

In the evening, the partners had the opportunity to take a walk downtown and learn more about the city from the organisers. Moreover, they participated in an olive oil tasting. This surprising activity delighted all palates.

Day 2: HACK4SCAIRA appetiser

The second day kicked off with the presentation of the CAETRA programme, the CEEIM incubator, and the local ecosystem. Additionally, the attendees played around in a capacity-building activity provided by the agency Prismático Innova under the title “Validating scientific and technological projects in the market using lean start-up methodology.” The last part of the programme was dedicated to the planning and development of HACK4SCAIRA. This in-person, 24-hour hackathon, that will take place will take place simultaneously in France, Portugal, and Spain March 14th and 15th, has as its primary objective to enlist entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs in the SCAIRA acceleration programme within the second open call frame.
