SOLLAGUA holds its fourth consortium meeting in Andalusia

SOLLAGUA-IV-reunión

The partners of the research project on ecological solutions for water reuse met on 23 and 24 September at the premises of the beneficiary CENTA (Seville).

The forthcoming installation of the demonstrators and the recent publication of technical deliverables were among the topics discussed in depth.

The consortium of the European project SOLLAGUA, focused on developing nature-based solutions (NBS) for water reuse in rural areas, held its fourth face-to-face meeting on 23 and 24 September at the Experimental Centre for New Water Technologies (CENTA), an entity under the Regional Government of Andalusia. The event marks a new milestone for this research initiative, which started in July 2024.

Day one: technical visit and status of pilot sites

Following the institutional welcome, the partners were given an in-depth tour of CENTA’s facilities, which have been an international benchmark since 1990 in applied research, training and knowledge dissemination on wastewater treatment and reuse.

The day continued with the sessions of Working Groups 1 and 2, dedicated to developing knowledge and tools for NBS and to designing the NB-WoLL strategy, whose main purpose is to engage and foster exchanges among all stakeholders in water management. In this context, the progress of the demonstrators to be deployed in Cheles (Extremadura, Spain), Zambujeira (Beja, Portugal) and Caumont (Occitanie, France) over the coming months was reviewed.

The results of technical deliverables 1.1.1 and 2.1.1 were also presented, followed by a debate on how to more effectively involve farming cooperatives and local producers, who are key players in the transfer of these technologies.

Day two: communication and future outlook

On 24 June, the focus was on reviewing the Communication Plan, addressing administrative matters and preparing the work of Working Group 3, which will concentrate on identifying barriers to adoption and fostering the replication of nature-based technologies. This line of action will be launched in 2026, the final year of the project.
