Montalegre - Sexta 13

The town of Montalegre (Portugal) will host the 5th Transnational Meeting of the European HITTS project (Heritage, Innovation, Territory, Tourism & Sustainability) from 11 to 13 February 2026. This initiative is funded by the Interreg Sudoe programme and promotes heritage as a driver of sustainable development and regenerative tourism in south-western Europe.

During the meeting, representatives of the project partners from Spain, France and Portugal will analyse the current state of project implementation, review progress in the pilot actions and working groups, and coordinate the next steps related to the Sudoe strategy, action plans and the transfer of results to other territories.

The working programme will include technical sessions focused on participatory governance, the strengthening of public-private partnerships, the training of local stakeholders and the creation of networks among the participating territories. It will also include the presentation of pilot action plans and long-term sustainability strategies. In addition, field visits and networking activities are planned, offering first-hand insight into the cultural and territorial heritage of Montalegre and its surroundings.

This fifth transnational meeting represents an important milestone in consolidating cooperation between rural territories committed to innovative, inclusive and heritage-respectful tourism development models.
