Development of a sustainable agrotourism offer – CRTL Occitanie

Summary

A sustainable agrotourism pilot in Roquefort focused on coordinating agricultural and tourism actors and building a shared territorial narrative.

Description

The pilot experience implemented in Roquefort, in the Occitanie region, aims to develop and structure a high-quality, sustainable agrotourism offer, building on existing initiatives and strengthening coordination between the agricultural and tourism sectors. The pilot is designed as a collective experimentation process focused on improving the quality of visitor reception, tourism services and sustainability commitments.

The initiative is based on a collective intelligence approach, bringing together farmers, tourism businesses, public authorities, destination management organisations and academic partners to co-create a responsible agrotourism model. Through dedicated working groups, the pilot addresses visitor expectations, quality improvement processes and the construction of a shared narrative around sustainable agrotourism in the Roquefort area.

A key component of the experience is the creation and promotion of a shared agrotourism narrative, connecting local initiatives such as Roquefort production, sustainable mobility, farm visits, sensory experiences, product tastings and hiking routes. The pilot seeks to generate transferable knowledge, strengthen local stakeholders’ capacities and ensure the long-term sustainability of agrotourism in Occitanie.
